Virginia-based discount retailer cited for similar dangers at other stores nationwide

Repeated visits by OSHA inspectors to a Massachusetts Dollar Tree store found blocked exits and other hazardous conditions in the store’s stockroom – and OSHA says similar hazards have been found at other Dollar Tree stores in the U.S.
OSHA’s standard 1910.145(a)(1) covers the use of signs or symbols that warn of and define specific hazards that could harm workers or the public, or both, or to property damage. These specifications are intended to cover all safety signs except those designed for streets, highways, and railroads.
The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) is using Workers’ Memorial Day to renew its efforts to eliminate workplace hazards and maintain safe and healthy working environments,” says AIHA President Barbara J. Dawson, CIH, CSP.
The annual commemoration of those killed on the job is fast approaching, and a variety of organizations are getting ready to hold solemn events on April 28. While Workers’ Memorial Day is observed around the globe, this will be its 25th anniversary in the United States.
