A 29-year-old technician at a windmill survived 80% burns caused by a massive electric shock at his workplace in India, in a recovery that took six weeks and 17 surgeries, according to theBangalore Mirror.

The U.S. Department of Labor has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Postal service for firing a mail handler who sustained a workplace injury. OSHA’s Nick Walters called the USPS’ actions regarding the employee at the Sharonville, Ohio facility “retaliation.”

An employee was severely injured when he became caught in unguarded arbor rollers at Kloeckner Metals Corp. on April 22, 2014. OSHA has cited the Cincinnati manufacturing plant with one repeat and three serious safety violations, carrying proposed penalties of $56,000.

A worker at a Youngstown, Ohio steel mill suffered multiple fractures to his pelvis Feb. 27^th when he was crushed between two machines because the company failed to protect workers from moving machinery parts, according to OSHA.

Two workers in St. Augustine, Fla. suffered injuries while cutting into a gas supply pipe with a torch when residual gas ignited inside the pipe and exploded due to the pressure. The March 2014 incident at Indianhead Explorations LLC, doing business as Indianhead Biomass Services, permanently disabling one employee and left the other with a leg injury.

 Following the crushing of a worker's hand in a 150-ton mechanical power press on Nov. 14, 2013, Superior Roll Forming Co. has been cited by OSHA for four serious safety violations.  

 Gershenson Construction Co. Inc. has been cited by OSHA after a worker suffered a broken vertebra when he was struck by a partially suspended load of sewer pipe and knocked to the bottom of an unprotected 13-foot-deep trench. 

A follow-up inspection by OSHA at San Cast Inc. found workers still exposed to amputation and fall hazards at the Coshocton, Ohio, casting and foundry facility – despite previous citations stemming from a leg amputation suffered by a worker in June of 2013. OSHA has issued 17 additional violations, carrying proposed penalties of $155,900 as a result of the November 2013 inspection.

An amputation at a job site has resulted in 18 serious safety citations against a Wisconsin precast concrete product manufacturer – many of them for violations of OSHA’s standards on cranes and derricks in construction.
