NSC: This short-sighted decision puts convenience above safety

“Forty thousand people died in 2018 on American roadways. Forty thousand died the year before. How many more people need to die in crashes to help FCC commissioners understand that support for this proposal will cost lives? Technology to advance safety has the potential to save thousands of lives each year, and having dedicated spectrum allows transportation industry players to test promising services without the threat of harmful interference from Wi-Fi users."
NSC President & CEO Debbie Hersman and football legend Terry Bradshaw will kick off the 2016 NSC Congress & Expo in Anaheim, California. Bradshaw, co-host of Fox NFL Sunday and Hersman, President & CEO of the National Safety Council, will speak during the opening session on Monday, Oct. 17 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Drive Smart Arizona, a coalition of safety organizations, government bodies and businesses in the state, will have billboards in Phoenix and Tucson debuting Thursday urging drivers to stop risking their lives by texting and driving.

In a report released today, the Campbell Institute at the National Safety Council lays out a safety roadmap for employers to effectively handle the complexities of contractor management. Fourteen Campbell Institute companies contributed real-world experiences and recommended practices to the report, which comes at a time when the number of contract and temporary workers in the U.S. is increasing rapidly.
Creating a culture of safety isn’t just meant for full-time employees of an organization. It requires the involvement all workers whether full-time, temporary or contract and the diligence of the companies or organizations where their work occurs.
