The National Safety Council announced SAFER: Safe Actions for Employee Returns, a comprehensive, multifaceted effort to guide employers through the process of safely resuming traditional work and operations now and in a post-pandemic environment.
Two safety organizations – ORC HSE Strategies, LLC and National Safety Council along with its Campbell Institute – announced a joint agreement to assist workplaces in responding to COVID-19 safety-related issues.
National Safety Council President & CEO Lorraine Martin on April 2 issued the following call to business leaders across the country to take aggressive action to ensure employee safety from COVID-19. In a survey conducted this week, over 70% of NSC member companies indicated they have employees still reporting to work, unable to work remotely. Many of these employees are in critical roles and crucial to supporting the functioning of our society.

The National Safety Council has postponed observing Distracted Driving Awareness Month in April amidst the growing global coronavirus pandemic. For a decade, April has been earmarked to raise awareness of driver distraction, with NSC playing a founding role in the month’s Congressional designation in 2010.
The National Safety Council is introducing a new scholarship program for women seeking post-secondary education to pursue a career in EHS – environment, health and safety – or related field. Lorraine Pack Memorial Scholarship winners receive a $2,000 tuition award and the opportunity to attend at no cost either NSC Congress & Expo or the Campbell Institute Symposium.
