American Industrial Hygiene Association® (AIHA) President Barbara J. Dawson, CIH, CSP, has released the following statement about the American Board of Industrial Hygiene's (ABIH) announcement that it has appointed Ulric Chung, MCS, PhD, as its chief executive officer.
“AIHA has been a close partner of ABIH since its creation in 1960. We are thrilled to hear that Dr. Chung will take the helm of the organization. Ulric's successful career in accreditation and education and his many years of management experience make him ideally suited to lead ABIH as it continues to play a vital role in contributing to the overall growth of the IH profession and communicating the value of the CIH for occupational health and safety professionals. We look forward to working with him."
Dr. Chung, who will assume leadership of ABIH on July 1, will replace Lynn C. O’Donnell, CIH, who has served as ABIH’s executive director since 1991. O'Donnell, who plans to retire in June, also served as a director on the AIHA Board and as a councilor for the American Academy of Industrial Hygiene. O’Donnell is an AIHA Fellow and a recipient of the ACGIH Bloomfield and AIHA Alice Hamilton awards.
