The ability to report severe injuries online in order to comply with updates to OSHA’s recordkeeping rule that went into effect Jan. 1st will not be available until mid-January.
“The electronic form is currently under development,” according to a statement from OSHA.
Under those updates, employers must report to the agency:
- All work-related fatalities within 8 hours.
- All work-related inpatient hospitalizations, amputations and losses of an eye within 24 hours.
While the agency has promised three different means of making those reports, the online version is not yet an option.
In the meantime, employers can report to OSHA by:
Calling OSHA’s free and confidential number at 1-800-321-OSHA (6742).
Calling, or visiting, the nearest area office during normal business hours.
