The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has imposed a $40 million civil penalty and a series of performance requirements to automaker BMW North America for a series of violations of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act and NHTSA regulations.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it will add two cutting-edge automatic emergency braking systems to the recommended advanced safety features included under its New Car Assessment Program (NCAP).
October 7–11 is Drive Safely Work Week (DSWW). The theme of the 2013 campaign is “Gear up for safe driving: Mind ·Body ·Vehicle.” DSWW is developed by the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS), a public-private partnership that promotes road safety on and off the job.
