NFPA offers Fire Prevention Week message in American Sign Language

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has produced an American Sign Language video for Fire Prevention Week. The Fire Prevention Week theme – Hear the Beep Where You Sleep: Every Bedroom Needs a Working Smoke Alarm – is conveyed through American Sign Language interpretation, voice-over, and open captioning.
The beginning of a new year often prompts positive lifestyle changes, and the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) is encouraging people to keep electrical safety in mind while they strive for improvement in 2015.
Cold temperatures, heavy snow, and treacherous ice storms are all risks of the impending winter season. “Severe winter weather can be dangerous and even life-threatening for people who don't take the proper precautions,” said Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region V acting administrator Janet Odeshoo.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is offering an online, interactive quiz for members of the public looking to test their fire safety smarts. The quiz reinforces the messages behind NFPA’s annual awareness campaign, Fire Prevention Week, and its 2014 theme, “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Test Yours Every Month!”
