Gas leak detectors are equipment that indicates the presence of gases in ambient air using technologies such as electrochemical, infrared and ultrasonic. These devices are used to detect toxic and combustible gases in order to maintain safety during operations.
In the late 1700s, gas detection was unheard of. It was believed that mine explosions were the result of unsafe conditions throughout the industry, but with no scientific proof, the only clear indication of this was the continued loss of human life within the mine.
