OSHA issued citations related to methylene chloride hazards, including allowing workers to be overexposed to the solvent, and failing to provide personal protective equipment, eye wash stations, and medical surveillance for workers exposed or potentially exposed to the solvent. 

OSHA and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health are warning workers and employers about the dangers of using methylene chloride-based stripping products in bathtub refinishing.

Both OSHA and NIOSH are issuing warnings regarding the risk for death from bathtub refinishing using methylene chloride strippers.

Since 2000, at least 13 workers have died in the U.S. after performing bathtub refinishing with stripping agents containing methylene chloride.
