Project HOPE, MAP International and Direct Relief International to distribute 3M respirators in West Africa

3M, one of the largest suppliers of personal protection equipment, has donated nearly 1 million respirators to help doctors and aid workers contain the spread of the deadly Ebola virus disease. Project HOPE, MAP International, and Direct Relief International will distribute 3M’s NIOSH-approved N95 respirators to workers in Sierra Leone and surrounding areas.

3M has named Jose Varela vice president and general manager of 3M’s Personal Safety Division. In this role, Varela will oversee 3M’s global safety business and more than 40 major platforms, including respiratory protection, hearing protection, fall protection, protective eyewear, head and face protection, and reflective materials.

Frommelt Safety Products (a division of Rite-Hite Doors) will change its name to Rite-Hite Machine Guarding, effective September 1, 2014. The name change is part of an overall initiative to further strengthen and focus on the Rite-Hite brand.

Industrial Scientific welcomed Deborah A.P. Hersman, president and CEO at the National Safety Council, recently to the construction site of its new global headquarters facility. Hersman took note of the project’s focus on safety with an official partnership between Mascaro Construction Company and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to deliver a safe construction project.
