With the duties of IHs broadening, a name reflecting new environmental and safety responsibilities would clarify the profession to outsiders, say many IHs.
Certain asbestos materials and projects that elaborate engineering controls are unnecessary and maybe even dangerous. For example, there is a means and method to safely and effectively drill a hole through vinyl asbestos tile; drill through an asbestos-containing ceiling to install fire protection; or cut into transite water pipe or sewer pipe, or transite siding.
