From the International Safety Equipment Association:

You’ll never see it coming.
Your hands will be working on a machine, or guiding a board through a saw, or just resting in the wrong place at the wrong time.
You see the blood before you even feel the cut. You can’t believe your eyes, but there it is: a big nasty gash across the palm of your hand, a deep slice across your knuckles, a jagged blood-oozing gap where you had a finger just a second ago.
Protective Industrial Products, Inc. (PIP), a leading supplier of hand protection and general safety products, announces the expansion of their industrial salesforce. PIP’s recent acquisitions, including West Chester Protective Gear, QRP and Worldwide Protective Products, uniquely positioned them to capitalize on the synergies and expertise of four leading Safety organizations to deliver one of the largest salesforces in the PPE industry.
Thirty percent of workers who wear hand protection don’t wear the right kind of glove for the task, according to the International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA), which has just released a resource designed to help safety managers select the application-appropriate impact protection gloves for their employees.
Why does hand protection matter so much?
Hand injuries accounted for more than 40% of nonfatal occupational injuries to upper extremities in private industry in 2017 that involved days away from work.
New hand and sleeve protection from Ergodyne, breathable boots with arch support from Tingley and color-coded gloves from Honeywell that helps match the cut resistance level to the application were the top occupational safety and health products featured on ISHN.com this week.
Ergodyne expands their lineup of innovative protective gear with the release of their new ProFlex® A4 Moisture-Wicking Cut Resistant Sleeve. This sleeve offers ANSI A4 level cut protection, moisture-wicking capabilities and breathability the entire length of the sleeve.
“So many cut-resistant sleeves out there are actually pretty uncomfortable,” says Aaron Skemp, Product Manager, Ergodyne.
Ergodyne announced the launch of their new ProFlex® Coated Series Work Gloves, introducing several first-of-their-kind innovations to a competitive – but sometimes hard to distinguish – product category in the process.
The expansion of the ProFlex® line of hand protection gives workers a range of ANSI-level cut resistance (A2, A3, A4), grip (for wet/oily or dry surfaces) and dexterity to satisfy the needs of those working in everything from small parts manufacturing to heavy construction.
Tingley announces the addition of the Badger Boots™- a line of footwear in plain and steel toe styles that works as hard as you.
The Badger features a soft, flexible, and breathable neoprene upper that will protect your legs from foul weather without causing discomfort. Removable insoles help to wick moisture and absorb shock, while steel shanks are ideal for all day arch support especially when climbing ladders or digging with shovels.
Rockford Systems today announced the expansion of its industrial safety portfolio with the addition of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) designed to reduce the wearer's exposure to job-related hazards. The new PPE line will include cut-resistant gloves and sleeves, safety goggles, hearing protection, respirators, and reflective clothing, along with other protective equipment worn to comply with OSHA regulations and ANSI standards.
ISEA is soliciting interested parties as consensus body participants in the revision to ANSI/ISEA 107-2015, High-Visibility Safety Apparel and Accessories. The widely-accepted standard, incorporated by reference in federal highway regulations, defines the material performance criteria, design requirements, class and type designations (based on material amounts and intended application, respectively) and labeling for high-visibility safety apparel for occupational use.
Now that we're in the swing of fall, it is crucial to understand how to properly layer using flame resistant clothing so you're prepared when the weather turns cold. When worn correctly, flame resistant clothing can provide lifesaving protection.
