Residential framing and siding contractor Southern Wood Works LLC has been cited by OSHA for five safety violations following an August 2014 inspection at a residence in Watersound. Citations were issued to the Freeport, Fla.-based company for failing to provide employees with fall protection equipment and exposure to falls from heights of up to 17 feet.

The National Council for Occupational Safety and Health (National COSH) says the the winners of its 2014 health and safety awards are “extraordinary people” who are helping to make workplaces safer by empowering workers and building coalitions.
Roofing contractor Juan M. Garcia Martinez has been cited for four willful safety violations for exposing workers to fall hazards at two separate residential home sites in Tuscola. OSHA has proposed penalties of $48,400 for the recent citations. The company was cited twice in March 2014 for similar violations.
Roma Construction cited for 12 repeat and serious safety violations

Roma Construction Inc., a stucco plastering subcontractor of Monticello Homes, is being cited for five repeat and seven serious violations by OSHA. The Texas company exposed workers to falls hazards of up to 20 feet as a result of improper scaffolding at the Hastings Ridge at Kinder Ranch residential development. The proposed penalty is $79,200.
