Industrial Insulation Group facing $41,000+ in penalties

A Phenix City, Alabama insulation manufacturer initially corrected hazards that included failing to protect its workers from caustic chemicals, but did not maintain those corrections, according to OSHA inspectors, who visited the workplace after receiving a complaint about hazardous conditions.
OSHA has developed a new agricultural fact sheet and QuickCardTM on the safe use of tripod orchard ladders, which are used by workers such as fruit pickers and landscapers. Many workers have been hurt from slips on rungs, falls, collapsing ladders and being struck by tree branches.
Agency begins process to address potential human health risks

The EPA has released a final risk assessment for trichloroethylene (TCE) that identifies health risks to workers in shops and dry cleaners that use the chemical as a degreaser or a stain removing agent. Consumers may also be exposed to TCE when using spray aerosol degreasers and spray fixatives.
It's a reasonable question. If you don't know what it is, how can you know if you need it or not? Arc flash testing is the process of determining the arc rating for materials and equipment to be used in electrical hazardous environments. Arc ratings are important in assisting companies and manufacturers in staying compliant with OSHA regulations and in keeping their workforce safe in a potential arc flash situation.

A study by researchers at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), found that houseboats that use gasoline-powered generators without emission controls routinely emit carbon monoxide concentrations well above NIOSH’s immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH) value of 1200 parts per million.
The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) awarded its Annual Social Responsibility Award to Perry Gottesfeld, Executive Director of Occupational Knowledge International (OK International).
John Howard talks trends, future directions at AIHce 2014

In his AIHce 2014 General Session address, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Director John Howard, MD, MPH, JD, LLM, predicted how the health effects of emerging manufacturing technologies and technological innovations in sampling practices will change the IH profession over the next 75 years.
OSHA has cited Flambeau River Papers for failing to protect workers from hazards associated with exposure to sulfur dioxide – a substance used to treat wood pulp for paper manufacturing that can cause numerous adverse effects to the respiratory tract when vapors are inhaled.
"Deadly Dust," an OSHA educational video on the hazards of silica exposure, has won first place in the safety category in an international competition to find the best business communications videos.
Although worker safety hazards in the oil and gas extraction industry are well known, there is very little published data regarding occupational health hazards (e.g., types and magnitude of risks for chemical exposures) during oil and gas extraction operations.
