The Kentucky legislature this week passed a bill to exclude radiologists from the types of doctors who can diagnose black lung disease among miners seeking workers’ compensation for their illness.
A radiologist uses x-rays to diagnose disease. Black lung disease is diagnosed through x-rays and an occupational history.
Five expert committees advised the federal government on ways to improve workplace safety and enhance whistleblower protections. Under President Donald Trump, their work has stopped and their recommendations are now stalled.
Being cited seven times in the past five years for safety violations apparently has not made an impression on Jose A. Serrato. The independent roofing contractor based in Marietta, Georgia has again been cited by OSHA for exposing his workers to fall hazards – this time at a worksite in Birmingham. Current proposed penalties total $133,604.

An independent jury of 63 design experts from 20 countries selected Honeywell’s Indoor Air Quality Detector, Aircore H2 safety harness and RAEGuard 3 fixed gas detector for 2018 product design awards as part of the annual iF International Forum (iF) Design competition.
