The site of an injury work accident that occurred Friday in Pennsylvania was so remote that rescue workers had to use all-terrain vehicles to reach the accident victim.
New sources report that a 49-year-old pipeline worker suffered a back injury after slipping and falling into an eight- to ten-foot-deep trench. The woman had been working to install a natural gas pipeline.
Emergency crews dispatched to the scene in Muhlenberg Township found themselves faced with a difficult rescue operation. After extricating the woman from the trench, first responders called in a helicopter to transport the victim to the hospital
The woman told rescue workers she could still feel her extremities, officials said.
