Lad-Saf™ X2 Detachable Cable Sleeve

Lad-SafCapital Safety, home of the DBI-SALA® and PROTECTA® brands of fall protection equipment, introduces the Lad-Saf™ X2 Detachable Cable Sleeve, the next generation cable sleeve designed to be used as part of the complete Lad-Saf™ Flexible Cable Ladder Safety System.

The Lad-Saf X2 Detachable Cable Sleeve offers hands-free climbing, automatically following the user during ascent or descent, and one-handed cable attachment or detachment for fast, easy and safe connections. Its lightweight stainless steel construction offers added durability and longevity to the sleeve.

The compact and more ergonomically refined Lad-Saf X2 sleeve has two independent means to activate its fall arrest function: a mechanical system that locks onto the cable almost immediately in the event of a fall; and a supplementary inertia system that activates locking independent of the mechanical system, providing a redundant safety system. In addition, the inertia system prevents unintentional upside-down installation. The Lad-Saf X2 sleeve also features an in-line shock absorber to reduce the forces a worker’s body will experience in a fall arrest event.

“Jobs that require workers to climb ladders, poles, towers and tanks are not only physically demanding, but create safety risks at height,” said Joe Yeatman, systems and anchors product manager at Capital Safety. “We developed the Lad-Saf sleeve to provide a cable based fall protection option, and with the addition of the next generation Lad-Saf X2 sleeve, ladder system climbing has reached the next level in ease of use and safety.”

The Lad-Saf X2 sleeve meets all the requirements of the proposed new ANSI Z359.16 Standard for Climbing Ladder Fall Arrest Systems. All Capital Safety products adhere to current OSHA or ANSI industry standards.

DBI-SALA® EZ-Stop Lanyard

New and improved lanyard is lighter, stronger and more durable

Lighter, stronger and more durable than ever, the EZ Stop Lanyard features Hi-10™ energy management material, the smallest shock pack in the world, the

lightest and strongest rebar hooks on the market, durable Repel™ webbing, and a rugged and durable soft cover with protected labels.

“We base a lot of our new product development on what we hear from customers; what their specific needs are,” said Jacob Shevik, soft goods product manager at Capital Safety. “We consistently heard a request for innovative new lanyards that were not only more durable, but lighter and smaller. The new EZ-Stop is a unique product that meets those needs across industries.”

The EZ-Stop Lanyard features the lightest and strongest components on the market. The new Hi-10 shock pack is 66 percent smaller and 40 percent lighter than competing products, making it the smallest available shock pack in the world. Consisting of high tenacity Vectran® fiber, the Hi-10 is resistant to abrasion, moisture, chemicals and cuts, and uses less than half the material content than competing products.

The EZ-Stop Lanyard is also equipped with ¾ inch webbing (the thinnest ever offered), which reduces weight and excess bulk for the wearer. The updated steel and aluminum rebar hooks are another industry first for DBI-SALA®, featuring a patent pending locking nose design and a dual-action, 3,600 pound gate for ANSI compliance and increased strength.

Most ANSI 6 foot free fall models are made with Repel™ water repellent webbing to reduce the attraction of mold and dirt, leading to better abrasion resistance. The EZ-Stop Lanyard’s superior design is equipped with i-Safe™ technology, which allows it to be tracked in inventory and tagged with usage data. The EZ-Stop meets all applicable OSHA and ANSI industry standards.

Nano-Lok™edge SRL

First and only sharp edge personal SRL with foot level tie-off

The revolutionary new Nano-Lok™edge is the first personal self-retracting lifeline (SRL) engineered for both foot level tie-off and sharp edge applications. While traditional general purpose products anchored at foot level and used in sharp edge environments may increase the risk of injury and create a false sense of security at height,

the Nano-Lok edge is designed specifically for use in sharp edge applications and retracts its unused lifeline so workers can anchor at their feet and move freely and with confidence at height. The Nano-Lok edge includes an 8 foot (2.4 meter) working length, ergonomic design, and is available in single or twin 100 percent tie-off units.

The Nano-Lok edge is the only personal SRL on the market to pass the most stringent leading edge standard set by ANSI Z359.14. Its tough lifeline material, patent pending energy absorber, and durable harness connector work together to absorb and limit the arresting forces in the event of a fall, and to mitigate the effect of a sharp edge on the lifeline even under harsh conditions.

“When workers anchor at their feet with traditional equipment that’s not specifically designed for foot level tie-off, they’re putting themselves at risk,” said Jeff Martin, hard goods senior product manager at Capital Safety. “The Nano-Lok edge is specifically designed for leading edge work and foot level tie-off situations, so workers at height can do their job safely and with confidence.”

The Nano-Lok edge personal SRL includes an integrated backpack style energy absorber, tough and flexible galvanized cable lifeline, various hook options, and an easy-to-install connector, and it can be safely used in fall clearance environments as low as 16 feet (4.9 meters). Visit www.nanolokedge.com for additional information on the Nano-Lok edge, foot level tie-off, sharp edges, and the ANSI Z359.14 standard.

New “Thinking About Fall Protection” Video

Series offers viewers fall protection knowledge ranging from compliant to expert solutions

Capital Safetyhas created a 30-minute video to introduce viewers to the basics of fall protection and industry safety requirements. Broken down into 11 concise chapters, the “Thinking About Fall Protection” video highlights the fundamentals of fall protection—what employers and workers need to know to maximize safety at height.

The “Thinking About Fall Protection” video is featured on Capital Safety’s website (the video can be seen here). Viewers can watch each segment individually or as an entire sequence, and can also download, share, and reference the instructional material as needed. The video addresses a range of fall protection basics, including the components of a personal fall arrest system, how to calculate fall clearance, methods to reduce the risk of falls, and proper equipment inspection procedures.

“Fall protection as a whole is a complex topic, but it doesn’t have to be difficult. Our goal was to break it down into smaller, more easily digestible pieces,” said Nate Damro, vice president of global marketing at Capital Safety. “Of course, this video is no substitution for a comprehensive training program, but we hope it gets people talking and thinking about what they need to stay safe at height.”

A DVD of the full “Thinking About Fall Protection” video can be ordered by contacting Darren Marrese at dmarrese@capitalsafety.com.
