Attendees at Safety 2012 – coming up June 3-6 in Denver, CO – will hear from Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA Dr. David Michaels, who is expected to discuss the GHS and HCS, National Emphasis Program (NEP), fall prevention and other agency priorities.
The American Society of Safety Engineers’ (ASSE) event is expected to draw thousands of safety, health and environmental (SH&E) professionals from around the globe. The annual Professional Development Conference (PDC) has more than 250 sessions on hot topics involving all aspects of work safety including sessions on mining, risk management, nanotechnology, nuclear plant safety, fall protection, crane safety, ergonomics, sustainability, preventing workplace violence, a session titled ‘Restoring the Lincoln Memorial/Washington Monument Reflecting Pool’, one titled – ‘A Case Study of Success: Prairie Waters OCIP, Aurora, CO’, and many more.
What ASSE predicts will be a “record-breaking” xxposition will feature more than 500 exhibitors.
Morning general sessions will feature top national speakers including Dr. Robert Cialdini on Monday discussing ‘Influence: The Ultimate Power Tool’; Lowell B. Catlett, Ph.D., professor, New Mexico State University will discuss ‘The Economic Behemoth’ Tuesday, and Bruce S. Wilkinson will discuss ‘Making Safety a Value – Not Just a Priority: The Key to Long-Term Safety Success’ during the Wednesday luncheon, sponsored by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).
ASSE will also provide a career services center at the conference along with several local technical tours to the Denver International Airport, the Halliburton-Fracturing location, the Bureau of Reclamation at the Denver Federal Center, the National Wind Technology Center at National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the Anadarko Petroleum Corporation Drill Rig, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and more. Attendees are able to see the work of their occupational safety, health and environmental peers from behind the scenes.
