AIHAThe American Industrial Hygiene Association® (AIHA) is hailing last week's sold-out Asia Pacific OH + EHS Conference + Exhibition as a success.

The inaugural event in Singapore drew 250 attendees from across Asia, India, the Gulf States, Europe, the U.S. and Australia. They represented industries ranging from mining to petrochemical and pharmaceutical and small, to large multinational companies, as well as governments.

It was the AIHA's first regional conference developed to address the needs of mid-level and senior level environmental, health and safety professionals who practice in the Asia Pacific region and around the world.

Alan Leibowitz, an AIHA Director and Program Chair, said he was "very excited" by the outcome of the organization's first large meeting in the Asia Pacific region. "It was clear from the attendee response that this program met and exceeded the needs of those professionals.

The conference offered several days of programming split between two tracks: one technical and the other strategic.

“There is clearly a need in the Asia Pacific region for education programming directly related to industrial hygiene," said AIHA Executive Director Peter O'Neil. "We plan to return next fall with an enhanced program developed to meet the advancing needs of the region’s environmental, health and safety professionals.”
