3M announces a new in-ear headset designed for use with two-way radios, that allows the user to wear other PPE such as respiratory protection, welding helmets and military-style helmets.
Following in its long tradition of customer-focused technology expertise, 3M has launched yet another product that offers what customers have needed for quite some time.
The all-new 3M™ Peltor™ ORA TAC In-Ear Tactical Communications Headset provides all-inone lightweight hearing protection, ambient (tactical) listening and two-way communication. 3M Peltor product marketer, Jason Jones, says, “One of the great features of this product is that the hearing protection is provided through comfortable, lightweight earplug tips. These earplug tips have tactical microphones in them that allow the user to hear ambient sound at or below 82 dB regardless of the actual external sound level. In addition, the user can communicate via a two-way radio without the need for a boom microphone. Workers can easily wear this system with welding helmets as well as powered and supplied air units."
ORA TAC is a direct-connect product for use with a variety of two-way radios. The system uses an in-ear communications microphone to transmit the user’s voice, helping to minimize external noise. In addition, the long history of 3M™ E-A-R™ passive hearing protection is incorporated into its earplug tips through the use of 3M™ E-A-R™ UltraFit™ Earplugs.
