OSHA has joined with the Building Contractors Association of New Jersey, New Jersey General Construction Trades, and New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development On-site Consultation Service to develop a statewide partnership among the construction industry, labor and government.
The key goals of the partnership are to encourage New Jersey contractors to eliminate serious worksite hazards and achieve a high level of employee safety and health, promote cooperation and networking among participating organizations, recognize contractors with exemplary safety and health programs, and encourage participation in OSHA's Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP).
"The combined expertise of this federal agency, the building contractors and the New Jersey Department of Labor will help us more effectively encourage employers and employees to commit to safe and healthful work practices," said Patricia K. Clark, regional administrator of OSHA's New York office.
OSHA's area offices in Avenel, Hasbrouck Heights, Marlton and Parsippany will participate in the partnership. For more information, telephone (973) 263-1003.
