From December to May of this year the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) saw a 71 percent increase in the number of jobs posted on its Nexsteps job board Web site, www.nexsteps.org, for occupational safety, health and environmental professionals, showing a significant increase in demand.

Current positions on the Nexsteps Web site are for all levels of experience, according to ASSE, and are from across the country and Canada, and in all industries, including many Fortune 500 companies. Companies seeking EHS professionals include those in the food, petroleum, technology, nuclear, chemical, hotel, insurance, dairy, vintner and gas industries.

To help meet the demand for EHS professionals and to increase their knowledge base by providing up to date information on EHS issues and practices, ASSE will hold a career center June 24-27, in Orlando, Fla., at its annual Professional Development Conference (PDC) and Exposition, Safety 2007.

The Nexsteps Career Center will be on-site at Safety 2007 to assist EHS job seekers, students and employers. During the PDC, employers can post their career opportunities for free on the Web site.
