The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Jordan Engineers Association (JEA). BCSP Board President Joaquin Diaz and JEA President Ahmad Qasem Al Sammarah signed the MOU virtually this morning, solidifying a partnership between the two organizations.

The MOU signals an agreement to develop leaders in safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) practice through global certification—enhancing careers, advancing the profession, and protecting people. The organizations will carry out this mission through a shared cooperative effort.

“This is a tremendous partnership that continues the expansion of BCSP’s relationships in the Middle East. This partnership provides enhanced opportunities for industry stakeholders in fulfilling our vision of a safer globe. It also allows certificants and employers an opportunity to improve awareness of the importance of safety in the workplace,” said BCSP Board President Joaquin Diaz, MM, CSP, OHST, CHST, CIH. “JEA and BCSP share similar goals, philosophies, and values. Together, we can expand our goal of educating at-risk workers on the importance of workplace safety and stress the importance of professional certification.”

BCSP will review JEA’s SH&E training curriculum to determine if there is a substantial match to BCSP’s Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification blueprint. If found to be a match, JEA members would satisfy the qualified credential requirement needed to apply for the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.

BCSP will also support JEA with subject matter experts (SMEs), exhibit at JEA events, and offer an application fee discount to those who attend JEA event sessions pertaining to BCSP. The organizations will align research to contribute to scientific SH&E publications. JEA will provide marketing and media efforts in support of BCSP and promote BCSP certification to its members.

This agreement will remain in effect for one year.
