AIHA has announced today that Perry W. Logan, PhD, CIH, the 2020 recipient of the prestigious AIHA President's Award, will be formally celebrated for his achievement during the Nov. 5-6 virtual premiere of the organization’s 2020 Mark of Excellence Awards. The AIHA president confers the award yearly in recognition of an individual, group, or local section that he or she believes to have demonstrated exemplary service.
Logan, whose selection as the 2020 recipient was announced in May, has contributed remarkably to AIHA and the wider OEHS profession through his work in researching and applying leadership practices for industrial hygiene roles. In 2005, he attended the inaugural AIHA Future Leaders Institute (FLI) and has been heavily involved in developing content for the FLI program ever since, serving as an advisory board member for the 2008, 2011, 2014, and 2018 FLI classes.
"[Logan’s] success cannot be attributed solely to his intellect, vast experience, and technical knowledge, but also to his ability to influence and inspire OEHS professionals to think outside the box and continue their educations," said AIHA past president Kathleen S. Murphy, who named Logan as the awardee during her 2019-2020 term of office.
Logan, currently the Global Director of Environment, Health, Safety, and Management at 3M Corporation, has served as the past president of the Academy of Industrial Hygiene Council (2012), past chair of the Exposure Assessment Strategies Committee (2008-2009), and is a current member of the Leadership and Management Committee and the 2020 COVID-19 Re-Open America Guidelines Task Force, resulting in the AIHA Back to Work Safely ™ initiative.
Following the virtual premiere, the awards ceremony will be available to watch on AIHA Network TV.
