The long-time employee who was killed in an industrial accident last week in New York State died of “trauma,” according to Columbia County Coroner Daniel Herrick, who declined to release further details.
Details about the fatal incident itself have also not been released by authorities. It occurred at the ADM Milling Co. flour mill in Greenport on Tuesday morning. The victim was 52-year-old Kenneth Pierce, 52, who’d worked as a laborer and Lead Man at ADM Milling Co. for many years,
A company spokesperson issued a statement saying that “At ADM, safety is our highest priority, and we are deeply saddened by this loss. We appreciate the quick response and assistance of the emergency responders, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of our colleague.”
The company said it is “working with local authorities to investigate the situation surrounding the incident.”
