The Board of Certified Safety Professionals' (BCSP) Foundation received many applications for scholarships and, after much consideration, recently provided 37 determined safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) students with $5,000 each to support their continued dedication to the development of their knowledge and the improvement of safety practice.
Every year, the BCSP Foundation offers scholarships to students of Qualified Academic Programs (QAP) holding accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) or Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI). A total of $185,000 was disbursed to recipients in the last year.
"These scholarship recipients are determined to make a positive impact on the lives of others through their passion for safety," says Christine McConnell, Deputy Executive Director of the BCSP Foundation. "We appreciate the opportunity to act as a catalyst by providing them greater means to realize current and future achievements."
The names and schools of the recent scholarship recipients are now listed on the BCSP Foundation's website.
In addition to providing SH&E students with scholarships, the Foundation invests in research that promises to advance safety, including master's theses and doctoral dissertations. The BCSP Foundation, under the leadership of the Trustees, has designated that qualified candidates will receive one-time awards for:
- Master’s Thesis: up to $5,000.00 (Application deadline: February 7, 2020)
- Doctoral Dissertation: up to $10,000.00 (Application deadline: February 7, 2020)
- Early Stage Funding: up to $25,000.00 (Application deadline: March 27, 2020)
More information on these grants, and the applications for them, can be found on the BCSP Foundation's Grants webpage.
Congratulations to the 2019 scholarship recipients. The BCSP Foundation is proud to award such an amazing group of students and future safety professionals.
