An employee of a tree trimming company died in a workplace incident Tuesday morning in Wakefield, Massachusetts.

The 34-year-old man, whose name has not yet been released, suffered traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according a statement issued by Wakefield Police Chief Steven Skory, Wakefield Fire Chief Michael Sullivan, and Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.

News reports say a massive tree had been cut down at the site, its upper branches apparently striking the home at the property as it fell.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene around 11 a.m. Authorities said OSHA has been notified about the fatality and that state troopers assigned to Ryan’s office are assisting with the local investigation.

Following the incident, Wakefield Police posted on social media that there was no danger to the public at the scene.

Wakefield is 12 miles north of Boston.
