The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) Foundation is accepting online applications for scholarships and professional development grants through Dec. 1 for the 2019-20 academic year. More than $400,000 is available to occupational safety and health students and professionals, thanks to the generosity of corporate donors and the ASSP community.
The ASSP Foundation provides nearly 150 awards each year that range from $500 to $15,000. Candidates only need to complete one online application to be eligible for all awards. Recipients are matched with the criteria established by the fund’s donor.
“Our scholarship and grant programs have helped hundreds of students and professionals start or continue their occupational safety and health education,” said ASSP Foundation Chair Linda M. Tapp, CSP. “The consistent support from our donors demonstrates that safety careers are vital in helping to protect workers everywhere.”
Scholarships are available to undergraduate and graduate students, including full-time, part-time and international students studying in the United States. Applicants must be enrolled in an occupational safety or related degree program and have a grade point average of 3.0 for undergraduates and 3.5 for graduates. Professional education grants are available to practicing safety professionals looking to advance their careers through certification, college coursework, conference attendance or similar learning opportunities.
The 2020 scholarship and grant awards will be announced in April. This past spring, the ASSP Foundation distributed a record $407,873 to students and professionals.
