The Walt Disney Company has been fined $13,260 for failing to report two workers’ injuries in a timely manner. The injuries occurred at the company’s Epcot Center and Beach Club Resort in December 2018. One was serious enough that the employee required surgery.
An employee injury occurred at the Beach Club resort on December 7 but was not reported to OSHA until December 13.
The second injury, which happened in a stockroom at the Epcot Center on December 21, also resulted in the employee being transported to the hospital. The company reported the incident to OSHA three days later, on December 24.
Employers are required to report any inpatient hospitalization, amputation, or eye loss within 24 hours of learning about it.
The violations are considered “other than serious.”
