Two UPS employees were rescued this morning after being taken hostage by a gunman who was the ex-boyfriend of one of the hostages.

The drama unfolded in the loading dock area at a UPS facility in Logan Township, New Jersey. Shots were fired, although it’s unclear anyone was injured besides the gunman, who was shot during the rescue effort. In addition to local law enforcement, personnel from the FBI and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives responded to the active shooter scene as well.

Schools in the area were put on a modified lockdown.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital with gunshot wounds. Officials have not released a statement about his condition or his identity.
