Construction worker killed on Indiana University project

A construction accident at Indiana University (IU) Wednesday afternoon claimed the life of a contract worker. Sources say William Brown Jr., a Bloomington resident, was killed when a large piece of limestone fell on him. A co-worker said Brown was wearing a hard hat at the time of the incident. No one else was injured.
Brown was part of a crew performing renovation on the IU’s Swain Hall. According to an IU news release from last year, the project includes replacing mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire alarms, and renovating interior academic and research spaces. Construction is expected to be completed this summer.
Indiana University Police detectives are investigating the incident.
