Police don’t think alcohol or drugs were a factor in an incident Sunday in Westland, Michigan in which a pedestrian was hit by a train. A cell phone was to blame.
News reports say three teenagers were strolling close to railroad tracks Sunday afternoon and were so distracted by their cell phones that they didn’t hear an oncoming train. One of the pedestrians – a 19-year-old male – was struck by the train.
He was transported to a local hospital with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.
