A Pennsylvania construction worker was killed yesterday in an accident inside a Cheltenham Township bank vault.
Authorities say 35-year-old Jonathan Maust of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania was crushed by a large safety deposit box that fell on top of him while he and two co-workers were attempting to move it.
The incident occurred in what was described in news reports as an old Wells Fargo bank. The men were reportedly attempting to move the safe deposit box from the bank to a new location when it suddenly tipped over and fell on top of Maust. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cheltenham Township police, OSHA and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office are investigating the incident.
