An accident last week that claimed the life of a worker in Wayne, New Jersey is under investigation.
According to news reports, a motorist called 911 after being flagged down by workers employed by a landscaping company. Emergency responders who arrived at the scene -- volunteers from the county's first aid squad and members of the St. Joseph's Hospital life support team -- found the victim wedged between the rotating cement drum and the body of a cement mixing truck. Firefighters from the Wayne Volunteer Fire Department also responded, and helped extricate the body from the truck.
The victim’s identity has not been released, pending identification and notification of next of kin. Local authorities said he is believed to be in his mid 30s.
Following an inspection, OSHA issued citations for 13 serious violations to Greenbelt Associates Inc T/A Greenbelt Landscapes of Wayne, New Jersey. The company faces $135,626 in fines.
