At the 2016 National Safety Council Expo, Master Lock Safety Solutions™ (booth 2112) will offer an advance look at new products and services, including the S600 Group Lock Box Series and four brand-new safety planograms. An expanded offering of professional lockout services will also be debuted. The October 17-19 event will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center.
The S600 Series of group lock boxes being previewed are constructed of 430-grade stainless steel to withstand the toughest environments. All three models in the series – the S600, S601 and S602 – have a clear, impact-resistant window, allowing participants to see keys are secured inside the box during a group lockout. The S600 will also be displayed in the NSC New Product Showcase.
“We received feedback from end users saying they were looking for lock boxes with the means to see that keys were secured inside the box during a group lockout,” commented Matt Dudgeon, Director of Product Marketing – Safety.
“We added windows and removable key cups to the three models. Our new boxes come in two different sizes and offer enhanced features, like a stackable design that facilitates storage and simplifies the transportation of multiple boxes. The S601 also includes a window along the side of the box and the S602 includes a rewriteable tag. All the enhancements made to these lock boxes were done in response to what we heard from the field.”
Master Lock will also be showcasing a new safety product planogram in their booth. Four new planograms are being introduced. Each contains carded safety padlocks, devices and tags that are organized for different types of lockout, allowing distributors to select the planogram that best serves their customer base. Distributors are encouraged to stop by the booth during Distributor Advantage Day on Wednesday for a special offer on these planograms.
“We are also looking forward to introducing a new evaluation service and training at the show,” said Dudgeon. “We anticipate great interest in our new alternative procedures development service and alternative procedures training. These alternative-method solutions are designed to improve workplace efficiency while maintaining safety compliance objectives. When full lockout is not possible because energy is needed to complete a task, alternative methods can often be used.”
With the Alternative Procedures Development Service, Master Lock safety experts complete on-site, task-based risk assessments and document alternative procedures to safeguard personnel. This includes analyzing machinery and evaluating the need for energy to be present before creating written alternative procedures. The Alternative Procedures Training takes the next step, with the safety experts training personnel on lockout procedure writing for full isolation, followed by training on how to perform risk assessments and create procedures using alternative methods to lockout.
Todd Grover, a lockout best practices expert, and safety awareness advocate Kina Repp, give safety a greater voice. They will be holding sessions in booth 2112 throughout the show. Todd will share his expertise, acquired from his 30-plus years of lockout experience and work as an ANSI committee member, in his sessions on the ANSI/ASSE Z244.1-2016 standard update. He will also highlight the new Alternative Methods to Lockout professional services. Todd will present at 1 p.m. on Monday and at 11:30 on Tuesday.
Repp survived a workplace accident in the 1990s and now educates companies and their employees on the importance of workplace safety. Catch her unique perspective at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, and at 10 a.m. Wednesday. She will also autograph a new safety poster that will be given to all session attendees – a keepsake to inspire and remind them to make safety personal.
Demonstrations of Field iD, Master Lock’s safety compliance software, will also be offered. Expo attendees can experience how intuitive and user-friendly the mobile, web-based software is by walking through a lockout procedure in the booth. The software can be used for lockout/tagout, as well as inspection and safety compliance management.
Expo attendees will also have an opportunity to learn more about the recently introduced Bluetooth® padlocks. The technology-based security solution uses a smartphone as the key. A Bluetooth Prize Pack, including the Bluetooth-enabled padlocks, a speaker and activity tracker, will be given away on the last day of the Expo. Booth visitors are eligible to enter to win the Bluetooth Prize Pack for each speaker session they attend.
