Bradley Corp., 95-year-old manufacturer of industry-leading commercial plumbing and washroom solutions, has been named among the 2015 winners of the Milwaukee Business Journal’s Healthiest Employers Awards.
Based on health and wellness initiatives designed to positively impact its nearly 500 employees, Bradley was selected a winner in the medium-sized company category for making significant efforts to ensure its employees are balancing work with healthy activities.
“We believe that keeping our most valuable assets – Bradley employees – healthy and productive will, in turn, keep our company healthy, strong and growing,” said Bryan Mullett, chief strategy officer. “Bradley offers a very robust health and wellness program with a variety of activities and incentives to inspire and engage our employees.”
The Healthiest Employers Awards program recognizes companies committed to creating a healthy workplace by improving wellness programming across six categories, including leadership commitment, foundational components, strategic planning, communication and marketing, programming and interventions, and reporting and analysis.
Mullett said that during the past several years Bradley has been building a culture of wellness by developing educational and motivational strategies that provide a safe and healthy work environment. “Bradley offers health coaching resources onsite, online and via phone, educational initiatives on managing various health conditions, discounts on exercise classes and wearable fitness tracker technologies, and reductions in health insurance premiums for improvement in physical fitness,” he explained.
In addition, Bradley provides healthy food choices for vending and workplace gatherings, sponsors employees and their families to participate in community walk/run events, offers onsite blood donation drives, and collects food, money and other supplies for community outreach events. The company also added an on-site health coach to help guide people to more healthful habits.
“Bradley has seen meaningful results from these initiatives. In addition to a jump in employee satisfaction rates, we’ve documented a 25 percent increase this year in participation levels for our monthly educational talks and voluntary walks, fitness challenges, and other onsite and online wellness offerings,” Mullett said. “We’re pleased our employees are taking an active role in managing their health while enjoying the process.”
Bradley received the 2015 Healthiest Employer Award during the same year it received the WELCOA Well Workplace Gold Award for having a comprehensive, results-oriented wellness program based on its benchmarks of successful wellness programs.
“We congratulate Bradley for its commitment to improving the quality of life of its employees,” said Mark Sabljak, publisher of the Milwaukee Business Journal. “Bradley scored very high marks on the survey and essay portions of the nomination. We’re pleased to include them among our winning companies.”
